HRM has many definitions
published by different authors in the world and let me mention some of them as
follows
HRM is the process of acquiring, training, appraising, and compensating
employees. It also involves attending to their labor relations, healtRh and
safety, and fairness concerns.(Gary Dessler)
HRM is the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of human
resources to achieve organizational, social, and individual objectives. (Edwin Flippo)
Dave Ulrich lists the functions of HR as: aligning HR and business strategy, re-engineering
organization processes, listening and responding to employees, and managing transformation and
change. ( Human Resource Champions. The next agenda for adding value and delivering results. Boston,
Mass., 1996)
Why HRM Important?
HRM in an organization is very important because it helps organizations achieve the forecasting goals by managing employees. HRM can help organizations
It is the most important resource which is utilized by managers to achieve their goals
HRM also supports the organizations to find, hire and retain the top talented employees
It helps organizations optimize the use of the workplace with the employees
HRM creates a positive peaceful work environment and the culture
In HRM, it is very important to have key factors because the key factors decide the direction of success in an organization in order to achieve its goals.

Recruitment and selection
It refers to find and to hire qualified candidates to fulfil the recruitment carder in the company.
Training and development
To provide opportunities to learn new skills and improve their existent capabilities trough the training sessions in order to achieve its goals and to become very competitive.
Performance management
Setting goals, tracking the progress and providing the feedback to improve their performance.
Employee relations
this point is very important because maintaining a good relationship among the employees and the management helps address concerns and resolve the conflicts.
Compensation and benefits
managing employees' salary, bonuses, and the other benefit such as increment, insurance coverage, travelling facilities etc.
HR planning
forecasting future needs with how to fulfil the gaps and the development strategies according to expected requirements
Employee engagement
creating a positive work environment to motivate and retain the employees. here extrinsic motivational methods can be applied.
Occupational safety and health
To ensure that the employees have the safety working environment by implementing safety procedures and compliance with regulations.
